Groomer of the Year 2019 - Masterclass
An exciting new dog grooming competition to determine the 2019 Groomer of the Year will take place in October, instead of this year’s British Dog Grooming Championship. The event, entitled ‘Groomer of the Year – The Masterclass’ will take place on Sunday 13 October at Warwick Conferences’ beautiful new venue, The Slate.
The competition includes the UK's Top Professional Dog Groomers including current Guild of Master Groomer members, former Groomer of the Year winners, PIF Higher Diploma candidates and other UK grooming competition winners.
The fantastic line-up of exceptional groomers is below. The compere will be Stuart Simons.
Each competitor has to undertake two grooms (one morning and one afternoon) with each groom scored by a panel of prestigious judges to determine the winner with the highest total score for both grooms. The winner will be crowned Groomer of the Year and win a £2000 prize.
Tickets are available for spectators to watch and learn from the highest calibre of dog groomers in the UK today;

The ticket price includes a luxurious buffet lunch and refreshments. As it's an educational event, where you will be able to watch and learn from the best, visitors will also receive an attendance certificate. There will also be some shopping opportunities and a scissor sharpener at the event.
Our confirmed competitors so far include:
Kelly Davis (LCGI) is the owner of KD Grooming in Wincanton and has been grooming since 2002. She is a member of the Guild of Master Groomers.
Amy Manser (LCGI) from Just 4 Paws has enjoyed a successful time competing at various grooming competitions around the UK, Europe and the USA, with multiple BIS wins and is a two-time Groomer Of The Year winner.
Eve Somers (LCGI) is the proprietor of AbbFabb Academy of Grooming in Cornwall, a member of the Guild of Master Groomers and holds the BDGA Higher Diploma. She has competed successfully at most major UK grooming competitions.
Emma Taylor was the 2015 Groomer of the Year and is a current member of the Guild of Master Groomers and holds the BDGA Higher Diploma.
Mike Wildman from Classy Grooming won the Groomer of the Year title in 2013.
Linda Barker was the 2018 Groomer of the Year. Linda owns Barkers Dog Groomers in Surrey.
Zofia Fury (LGCI) - is a member of the Guild of Master Groomers and the owner of Dapper Dog Grooming Salon in Cannock.
Matthew Spry owns Barkingham Park Pet Spa in Neath, the first and only Pet Industry Federation assured salon in Wales and is working towards his Higher Diploma.
Denise McGlennon of DMG Pet Boutique & Spa has become a renowned dog and cat groomer not only in Bonnybridge, Scotland but throughout the UK and is currently working towards her Higher Diploma.
Carla Keen (ICMG) is the owner of Wayland Wags Dog Grooming Salon in Norfolk and has been grooming for nearly five years, during which time she has completed her level 2 & level 3 (professional diploma) City & Guilds qualifications & is working towards her Higher Diploma.
MEET OUR JUDGES
Jette is the owner and founder of Swedgroom Dog Grooming Educations (SDGE) in Malmö, Sweden. She has been a full-time dog groomer since 1998 and spent four years organising grooming competitions for the European Grooming Association EGA. In 2017 Jette became a “IGU Certifier” and travelled to South Korea to certify groomers. She believes that grooming education is never complete so Jette continues to take classes and seminars so she can stay on top of trends and techniques. Her main passion is uplifting the dog grooming profession through quality education and sharing valuable knowledge through hands-on demonstrations.
Professor Steve Dean
Professor Dean has over 40 years' experience within the animal welfare sector and was Chief Executive of the UK government's Veterinary Medicines Directorate from 2002 until 2011. From 2011 until 2015 Steve was Chairman of the Kennel Club. Steve is also a highly successful breeder of pedigree Border Terriers.
