Mandatory Face Mask Statement

The recent announcement from the Government about face masks and face coverings being mandatory in England from 24 July is only applicable to shops and supermarkets. For the pet industry, this therefore only applies to premises who operate predominantly as a pet shop/retailer.
Many other types of pet businesses have been following the guidance from the Canine & Feline Sector Group and operating with effective hygiene and safety protocols in place to reduce the risk of virus transmission for a number of weeks. There is no need for you to now insist on the requirement for face coverings from your customers, unless you wish to do so.
PIF would recommend that if you wish your customers to wear a face mask when entering your premises to make sure that a poster requiring this from your customers is visible when entering.
