Membership Expectations

The Pet Industry Federation is the trade association for pet businesses operating in the UK marketplace.  We are a “not for profit” organisation which means that everything we do, we do it for our members. Current members range from manufacturers, retailers, pet groomers, kennels, home boarders, day care business and dog walkers to other pet service and pet media businesses operating in the UK. You don’t have to be a UK pet business to join the Federation.

As a member you can expect to get a range of benefits for your businesses provided by our affinity partners. If you are an overseas company, these services may not be available in your country, so we discount our membership fees appropriately for foreign companies. In addition to benefits, PIF offers educational courses, bespoke training, primary authority membership for those businesses that are licensed under the Animal Activities Licensing Regulations, as well as networking and event opportunities. PIF also lobbies on your behalf with local and national government.

It is a condition of joining that you follow our Charter and that matters arising from previous disputes are not retrospectively brought forwards when you join. We can only investigate and help on issues that arise during your current membership.

PIF also operates a non-legally binding dispute resolution process. This can be used if your business (whilst in membership) receives a complaint from another business or a customer. We aim to be the “broker” between both parties and have an arbitration panel who will look at the complaint and adjudicate accordingly between the parties.
